A FEW THINGS ABOUT THE ARTIST

1. What do you do when you’re not making art? (Day job etc...).

I work in a dance studio as my main job. I love spending time outdoors and also do photography, crochet, and sew in my free time.

2. Why do you make art?

I make art because it helps me show others how I view the world when I can’t always communicate it in words. I love the feeling I get when I am working on a piece and something “clicks”, and I figure out exactly how I want to portray or communicate something. I love seeing how others react to the finished product as well.

3. What inspires you?

I’ve always had a love for color and I love incorporating bright colors into my paintings and in the way I design my home.

4. What/who are your influences?

I love incorporating Mid-Century Modern elements into my paintings when I can. I haven’t studied art professionally, so it is fun to keep discovering new artists and new styles to try. My mom is one of my biggest influences in life; she supports me when I try new things and has always supported my artistry (in whatever form it takes at the time). She inspires me to keep going when I feel discouraged.

5. If you could meet anyone dead or alive who would it be?

I would love to have been able to meet Frida Kahlo. Her art is beautiful and I would love to have a conversation with her about how she continued to create despite her struggles with illness. Having dealt with chronic illness since I was 10, it’s inspiring to learn about others who did great things while struggling with their physical health.
